Driving to Red Deer River Ranches is just the beginning of your adventure at our guest ranch in Sundre, Alberta, Canada. Coming from either Edmonton or Calgary, you will pass through Alberta prairie, ripe with grain and hay crops. Coming down into Sundre is one of the most majestic views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains as you will be able to see dozens of miles of the eastern slopes as well as the eastern boundary of Banff National Park. Once you are west of town you will ease into the foothills region and the historic Coal Camp Road will wind you along the upper Red Deer River and deliver you to the front gates of our 50,000 acre cattle and guest ranch.
From Calgary:
Plan on 1.5 hours from the Calgary International Airport. Find the Deerfoot Trail and head north from the Calgary International Airport on the Queen Elizabeth II highway past Airdrie, Carstairs, and Crossfield to the Olds turn-off. Exit at that point and head west on highway #27 to the town of Olds and continue on for another 38 km to the town of Sundre. From the 4 way stop in Sundre head due west another 9 km until you reach the Coal Camp Road. At this point you will see signage for both the Coal Camp Road and for Red Deer River Ranches. Turn left and proceed for 23 km in a southwesterly fashion. At this point you will have reached the main ranch. Continue on over the Williams Creek bridge until you get the second log gate on your right hand side. Turn right and go north up the gravel laneway for about ¼ mile and you will be in the main ranch yard and guest cabin area for our dude ranch.
From Edmonton:
