Guest Ranch Activities
There are many different activities to participate in at Red Deer River Ranches throughout the four seasons of the year.
The summer time holds the best opportunity for many of our outdoor activities. Average daytime temperatures are moderate, around 23 degrees Celcius or 75 degrees Fahrenheit and cool summer nights make it quite comfortable to be outside all day.
- Horseback riding: BYOH (Bring Your Own Horse) and experience river, ridge, and valley trails or for the more adventerous try your hand at working cattle with us on our 50,000 acre grazing allotment. You could also plan a day trip to the Rocky Mountains to ride on the Ya Ha Tinda Government of Canada, Horse Ranch.
- White water rafting: Rafting on the Red Deer River.
- Fishing: Fishing in the Red Deer River or one of the creeks that run through the ranch.
- Golf: Long summer days allow you to get all you can out of your time here so a twilight game of golf can be finished at 10:00 and you can still see your ball!
- Swimming: On hot days it is great to jump into the Red Deer River at the Jumping Rock and cool yourself in the glacier fed river, or play in the Williams creek that runs right throught the ranch.
Fall lends itself to lots of cattle work as we are constantly moving cows to better grass in the foothills.
- Bring your own horse, take advantage of our bed and bale option, and come join us as we take care of the cows.
- Hiking and photography are great activities during the autumn as the leaves on trees and bushes are fantastic and God's creatures tend to be a little more brazen while grazing and looking for a mate.
- Fall is also the time for those who like to big game hunt. White tail or mule deer, elk, and moose can be found on and around the ranch and most often you can leave your cabin on foot and start your hunt from just outside your door.
